In Controls & Automation we execute R&D and management of products, systems and services for the Subsea Control and Workover Systems which enables safe and efficient operation of the Subsea Oil and Gas Production and Intervention Systems. The Control and Workovers Systems provide functionality for monitoring and optimization of production of oil and gas. We also execute the Subsea Control and Workover System project deliveries including design, engineering, fabrication and system integration of C&A product portfolio SCU(Subsea Control Unit), SPCU(Subsea Power and Communication Unit), HPU(Hydraulic Power Unit), SCM(Subsea Control Module), SEM(Subsea Electronic Module), MPFM(Multiphase Flow Meter), Instruments(wide range of instruments on XT and manifold), e-actuators, electrical distribution, hydraulic distribution, power system, communication system and SW system) Will you share our vision as our new: Graduate Engineer?

Job Purpose:

Controls & Automation Product Line is responsible for development and delivery of Subsea Control and Monitoring Systems to Subsea Production, Intervention and Workover systems for production of oil and gas. The product line is a multidisciplinary technical environment with R&D and delivery projects involving competency areas within system engineering, digital infrastructure, embedded SW, embedded HW, instrumentation and mechanics.

You will be a Graduate Engineer for our office in Kongsberg/Stavanger belonging to our C&A (Controls & Automation) Engineering department. You will receive training and coaching by your Manager. You will receive on-the-job training and development through participation in our breakthrough projects. Our Graduate Engineers job purpose is to assimilate our vision; to enhance the performance of the world’s energy industry.

Job Scope:

You will belong to one of the Controls & Automation Engineering departments where you will have your Manager and receive your training. Subsequently, you will be attached to an R&D project where you will take on responsibility for subparts of the relevant System/HW/SW/Instrumentation/mechanical/hydraulics development scope. You will be assigned a buddy and a Lead Developer/Senior engineer to guide your progress.

Controls & Automation Engineering may include, but is not limited to the following areas

Systems Engineering

The systems engineering department is responsible for the project engineering, product/subsystem testing(FAT) and system integration testing for the Subsea Control System(EFAT) in the delivery projects. As a system engineer you will be working with:

  • Development of component, product, subsystem and system configurations for TEM(Topside Electronic Module), SEM(Subsea Electronic Module), XT/Manifold instruments and Downhole Instruments.
  • integration testing of SCU interface to the Computer System in the Subsea Control System.
  • System integration testing of power& communication system, IP network, SCU(Subsea Control Unit) interface, instrumentation system, downhole interface and the hydraulic system operation.

Embedded Software development:

As a team member in the Software department, the main tasks will be related to both new Controls SW System and existing legacy Control Systems. To succeed it requires cooperation within the SW department, and between different departments within TechnipFMC, such as Electronics department, to be able to provide a suitable solution that meet the requirements in an effective manner. Cooperation with end Customer is important to find both optimal functional design and solution.

As an Embedded Software Engineer you will be working with:

  • Develop and maintain Software, for use in Subsea Control System and its Sub-Systems, with sufficient flexibility to cover varying customer needs and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain product documentation, source code, configuration and user documentation.
  • Cooperate with different departments, regions and co-workers all over the World
  • Provide technical support to projects and TechnipFMC service organization on a need basis.
  • SW development will be performed both in Legacy and New type of SW Sub-systems and SW systems.

Electronics:

The Electronics department is responsible for R&D and Product life Cycle Management for the entire range of custom and CoTs electronic boards, electrical/optical components, subassemblies and power & communication systems utilized in the Subsea Control System. Our development environment consists of: ALTIUM, CADSTAR, ALTERA SoCs, MATLAB, PSPICE, SIMULINK, LABVIEW, Teamcenter.

As an R&D engineer you will be working with:

  • Development of embedded HW and Firmware for use in Subsea Control System applications like SEM(Subsea Electronic Module), TEM(Topside Electronic Module), Electrical actuators and TechnipFMC proprietary power and communication systems.
  • Qualification of products and subsystems in close collaboration with SW department.

R&D multiphase metering:

As an R&D Engineer in multiphase metering (MPM), you will be part of a team that develop measurement algorithms for the MPM multiphase meters

  • R&D work within multiphase metering technology.
  • Algorithm development, simulation and analysis of field and test loop data in MATLAB and C++.
  • Develop test setups and prototypes and perform tests in our own on-site flow loop laboratory, as well as in external flow loops and field installations.
  • Close contact with customers to understand their needs and challenges.
  • Participate in planning and execution of field tests.
  • Follow up and support towards delivery projects, field support engineers and customers.

Mechanical Design:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in Subsea Controls Product Engineering, you will be part of a team that creates world-class control products in terms of functionality, performance and reliability. We use TCE and NX for 3D modelling, but knowledge about these tools is not a prerequisite.

  • You will over time develop expertise as an engineer – designing components and products for the control system, as you work with a lean and agile team of the best engineers in the industry.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional global teams within Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.

Profile requirements:

Must have:

  • Engineering Degree (Master, Bachelor or equivalent)
  • Good verbal and written English
  • These positions suits graduated engineers with major area of study within electrical/electronics engineering, cybernetics, computer science, communication technology, mechanics, instrumentation and physics.

  • Project/Product familiarisation / Energy-service familiarisation / Relevant Software familiarisation
