We are hiring Summer Interns to accelerate our efforts within data exploration and delivery. Your role will actively contribute in improve existing and new products, ensuring high data quality on both supply and demand side, data scoring, fraud detection, and incorporation of new data sources. You will work closely with our team of data scientists and data engineers.

Your main hub will be our spectacular Oslo offices on Karl Johan and the suggested work period is from late June until mid August with a couple of weeks break in July.

We run our technical stack on Google Cloud, and you will get the chance to work with Google’s cutting-edge technology BigQuery, DataFlow, Cloud Functions, and AppEngine. Data exploration and visualization will mainly be done notebooks. We're not demanding that you have experience with these tools, all we ask is that you are willing to learn something new every day.

To us, innovation is the ability to tackle the challenges we don't currently know we have before someone else does it. For that reason, we acknowledge that we need a diverse team with different background and experience.


Work Sample

We want to give you a chance to show off your abilities with a small work sample. It should not take more than a couple of hours to complete and hopefully you will learn something along the way.

You should be able to set up a trial Account on Google Cloud Platform which will give you plenty of credits to run these queries.


Answer the following questions:

-What is the trip duration distribution of Citibike trips?

-What is the most popular Citibike trip?

-Were there new bike stations introduced or removed at any point in time? What makes you think it did or didn’t?

You should submit both the SQL statements used to extract data and visual that present your answer in a user friendly way. Colaboratory or Jupyter notbooks can be a good format. You can use any type of visualisation tool you want. If anything is unclear, feel free to make assumptions and state them in your response.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a masters in mathematics, software development or similar
  • Comfortable with at least one programming language
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience within data analysis and visualizations is a plus
