Fast stilling - Nordic Semiconductor

Quality and reliability engineer

About Nordic

Nordic Semiconductor is a Norwegian fabless semiconductor company specializing in wireless communication technology that powers the Internet of Things (IoT). Nordic was established in 1983 and has more than 1000 employees across the globe. Our award-winning Bluetooth Low Energy solutions pioneered ultra-low power wireless, making us the global market leader. Our technology range was later supplemented by ANT+, Thread and Zigbee, and in 2018 we launched our low power, compact LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular IoT solutions to extend the penetration of the IoT. The Nordic portfolio was further complemented by Wi-Fi technology in 2021.

About the job

It’s an exciting time to join Nordic Semiconductor as we continue our rapid growth while perusing high ambitions with dedicated colleagues worldwide. The role as Q&R Engineer offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to influence and improve the quality of our products through in-depth and big data analysis work.

We will build a small team concentrating on Quality and Reliability improvements. The work will mainly be done by using statistical tools and methods and finite element simulations where the focus ranges from big volume data down to the understanding and improvement of single devices and structures.

Normal production variations must be understood and controlled to enable the required Quality level set-out by Nordic Semiconductor. Improving any low defectivity problem requires analysis of big volume data gathered from our mass production sites around the world.

The needed understanding on the device/structure level will be obtained through finite element simulations - thermo-mechanical and process/device. The detailed understanding will be used to optimize or establish design/design rules for improvements of future products.

We are looking for a new colleague to play a key role in this team. You will work both independent (new activity) and in collaboration with tool Suppliers, our Supply Chain, our Failure Analysis Lab and designers.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop/use FEM simulation capabilities to improve product reliability and design/design rules (TCAD and thermo-mechanical)

  • Ensure reliable simulations results

  • Provide expertise support/judgement in semiconductor reliability

  • Produce written documentation, including analysis procedures and simulation analysis reports which are valuable for internal stakeholders as well as customers and suppliers

Personal skills

We are looking for a team player with strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently. We hope that you are curious to learn, eager try out new things and continuously improve. You will be part of a fast-paced environment with constantly changed priorities and not one quiet or repetitive day. Multitasking and prioritization are skill-sets you are required to develop together with time management skills, but with your genuine interest in performing to the highest of your ability, you will be given time to grow into your role.
