We are now looking for trainees starting August 2023 who can contribute to developing our products and processes, challenge us with new mindsets and take part in our good culture!

The program consists of theoretical and practical seminars that will be a part of your individual development plan to help you understand the various business units in If.  


As a trainee you will have your own responsibility, supported by mentors from different parts of the organization along the way ensuring that you develop the needed skills, insight and understanding, as a base to accelerate your career and possibilities within If. 


Our trainee programs 2023:


  • Underwriter trainee

As an underwriter you evaluate the risks and set a price and propose an insurance solution depending on the profile of the client. This includes quantifying the potential risk and set a price to cover those risks in the specific case.  


Once you become an underwriter, you will have your own client portfolio and underwriting mandate and will be involved in various aspects concerning your clients; including sales activities, client and broker meetings and price negotiations.  


We provide insurance solutions for our customers most important assess, their personal and the company itself within areas such as Property, Casualty, Cargo, Vehicle and Digital/Cyber risks. Serving the largest and most complex clients, each insurance solution is tailored for the specific needs and risks of the client. 


To succeed and thrive in the role as an Underwriter you must be an excellent communicator. You find it compelling to evaluate potential risk and enjoy interacting with people and clients. 


Relevant education is a Msc. degree in engineering, finance, IT, law, economics, or business administration and will graduate this summer/ have recently graduated. 


  • Analyst & Actuary trainee

We aim to strengthen our analytical and actuarial competence to contribute to creating the best insurance solutions and experiences for our customers. 


This trainee program is for you who want to make an impact using your mathematical and business skills and would like responsibility to pragmatically solve difficult challenges. You will get a chance to work together with colleagues of a diverse background to solve real and important challenges in our customer interactions, pricing strategies, and more.  


To succeed and thrive in the role as an analyst & actuary we are looking for you with a genuine interest in analytics. You have an interest in mathematical modelling, programming, and data processing.   

Relevant education is a degree in mathematics, statistics, or equivalent and will graduate this summer/have recently graduated. It is advantageous to have training in insurance mathematics or experience with analytical work. 


About the team

You will be a part of a Nordic trainee group and jointly partake in seminars and coaching sessions as well as social gatherings during the year. You will also be a part of a smaller group with trainees recruited specific to the trainee area you have applied for (Underwriter or Analyst & Actuary).


But importantly, you are expected to work together with business units in If including senior professionals and be a natural part of their teams contributing to their goals. From the very start you will get the possibility to take ownership of your own deliveries, participate in the operational daily work, and build a strong network. You also have:


  • A MSc. degree relevant for the trainee area you are applying for (as mentioned above) and will graduate this summer / recently graduated, or you have a few years of experience
  • Good academic results within relevant education and/or extracurricular activity will be considered an advantage
  • Can communicate in Norwegian and English


Additional facts and recruitment process 

  • Application deadline: 26th of February. We will go through the applications continuously and you can expect a response before the application deadline.

  • Work location: The main location will be in Oslo/Vækerø.
  • Travelling: Some travel is expected during the year to our Nordic offices.
