The applications to attend the 2024 Simula Summer School in Computational Physiology are now open! The summer school focuses on developing the students' practical model building focused on electrophysiology and mechanics in excitable tissues. Over the course of the school they will code their own models and design in silico experiments, across the various physiological scales from protein to tissue. Students will also participate in an intensive writing workshop with Nature editors to learn valuable skills in writing and publishing scientific papers. We are currently seeking master's and early doctoral students to participate, and will accept applications until February 16th 2024. We will begin this school with a special anniversary event in Oslo, Norway on the afternoon of Friday June 14th, and we will invite all accepted students to attend. The following week, we will begin the initial series of lectures, which will continue in Oslo from June 17th- 28th. They will be followed by project work, guest lectures, a scientific communication workshop and final student presentations hosted by the University of California San Diego (August 5th-13th). Simula offers travel and accommodation grants to all accepted applicants. These grants are designed to cover major costs associated with travel to/from Oslo and/or San Diego (up to a combined maximum of 16000 NOK).
Details regarding scheduling, logistics, core scientific material, and the application process can be found through our online call for participation.
